Finally! An idea whose time has come! You have to be congratulated for your initiative.

I will get busy preparing my submission.

In the meantime, let me know if I can be of assistance.

I was getting a little fed up with the idea that all "emerging photographers" are under 35. And I think I'm still fed up with that silly notion.

Best idea in a long time! I blogged about it here: http://timconnor.blogspot.com/2009/01/emerging-photographer-is-that-code-for.html

Thankyou all for your submissions and plugs on blogs, the interest in this has been fantastic, and I'm sure I can speak for Stan as well when I say we are really excited about this!

Great idea!
I've mentioned it on my site (http://www.weepingash.co.uk/new/latest/New-for-Old-er-.html) and am really looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

As I mention in my post, there are lots of us photographers out there for whom mid-grey is more of a personal reality than a print tone.

Is that "over 35" or "35 and over"? Does 1973 get me in?

Can you please clarify whether this is for "over 35" or "35 and over?" Does 1973 get me in? I sure feel old enough.

yep you're old enough!

Congratulations for your efforts on behalf of the 'mature' photographer...but why limit it to those without gallery representation? There are plenty of older artists who at some point have had gallery representation or who have had an agent or who still have all of these and yet who are neglected or practically unknown.
I don't know if you are aware of at least one one foundation which addresses this issue and that is the Bader Fund located in Washington DC. www.baderfund.org which annually gives grants totaling $50,000 to 3 Washington area artists over 40. I am the happy recipient of a Bader Fund grant this year and at the age of 72 it has been a big boost to my work.
